Williams Double-Double Boosts Scots to Road Victory
DECATUR, Ga. – Maryville breezed into the second half of the Collegiate Conference of the South's debut regular season with a resounding 72-36 victory Tuesday night against Agnes Scott.
Madison Williams posted her first collegiate double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds to go with a game-high five assists. Olivia Cathers led all scorers and just missed a double-double of her own. Cathers scored a season-high 15 and added nine boards.
The Scots placed four scorers in double figures for the first time this season, with Hailey Cronk adding 14 points and Courtney Carruthers 13. Carruthers matched her season high with four steals.
MC trailed 4-2 early but then held the Scotties scoreless over the final 8:34 of the opening period while taking a 10-4 lead. The Scots across the first and second quarters put together a 23-3 run over a 13:15 stretch that made the score 25-7 on Emma Huskey's jumper with 5:19 remaining before half.
Over the combined middle 20 minutes of the game, Maryville outscored Agnes Scott 51-21. Cronk tallied all 14 of her points during those two quarters, with Cathers adding 13 and Carruthers nine.
Maryville led 61-25 heading into the fourth quarter and coasted from there.

The Scots improved to 8-10 overall and 5-4 in the CCS, bumping them to within a half-game of Belhaven (6-4) for fourth place. Maryville visits Belhaven this Saturday for a 2 p.m. Central time tip.
