WBB: Premont pours in career-high in setback to Owls

 

PLYMOUTH, N.H. The Plymouth State University women's basketball team fell to Keene State College, 76-36, in a Little East Conference (LEC) game at Foley Gymnasium on Wednesday afternoon.

Sophomore Raven Premont (Barre, Vt.) was a bright light for the Panthers, leading all scorers with a career-best 18 points in the losing effort.

Plymouth State falls to 5-12 (0-10 LEC) on the season, while the Owls improve to 4-12 and 2-8 in the LEC.

How it Happened:

  • Keene State started the game on a 9-0 run with 6:25 on the clock in the first quarter.
  • The Panthers managed one field goal in the opening frame as they trailed 13-6 after one.
  • The Owls started the second quarter with another 9-2 run to go up 22-8 with 5:12 before halftime.
  • PSU cut the deficit to eight points, 22-14, at the 3:48 mark in the second, but Keene State pushed the lead back to 36-16 at the half.
  • The Owls continued to pull away in the third quarter, taking a 50-20 lead after three.
  • PSU put together its best quarter in the fourth but could not close the gap as the Owls extended their lead through the end.

By the Numbers:

  • Premont hit 4-of-9 from the floor, including 3-of-6 from beyond the arc while draining 7-of-9 from the charity stripe for her career high.
  • The Panthers went 11-of-51 (21.6%) from the floor and 3-of-23 (13.0%) from three.
  • Keene State held a slight, 42-39, edge on the boards, including 13-12 on the offensive glass.
  • The Panthers had assists on seven of 11 field goals.
  • Bench points went in the Keene State favor, 38-28.
