NEW LONDON, Conn. – The Connecticut College women's basketball team opened a five-game homestand with a 64-56 non-conference victory over Mitchell College on Tuesday night at Luce Field House.

Jaycie Rojik (Scituate, Mass.) scored a season-high 21 points on 8-for-10 shooting and grabbed six rebounds to lead the Camels (6-11 overall). Catie Donadio (Clinton, Conn.) also chipped in 12 points while Aislinn McMahon (Andover, Mass.) added 11 off the bench.

Dede Stevenson (Hartford, Conn.) paced Mitchell (9-9 overall) with a game-high 22 points while Sam McKenna (Millbrook, N.Y.) and Amina Wiley (New Rochelle, N.Y.) contributed 12 and 10 points, respectively.

Midway through the opening quarter, a three-pointer by Stevenson gave the Mariners their first lead of the game. The advantage lasted all of 16 seconds, as a jumper by Donadio tied the game and ignited a 9-0 run for the Camels. Donadio provided six points during the spurt—including a four-point play—and Conn never trailed again.

The Camels, who led 15-11 after the first quarter, kept rolling in the second. Rojik had the hot hand with nine points in the period, and Conn built the lead to 32-23 by intermission.

Mitchell couldn't make up any ground in the third quarter and trailed by as many as 14 points in the fourth. However, the Mariners shot their way back into the game behind a 12-3 run that included three-pointers by Stevenson and McKenna.

With their lead trimmed to 58-53 with 4:01 remaining, the Camels buckled down on defense and allowed only one more field goal the rest of the way. Conn then secured its final six points from the charity stripe to secure the victory.

Conn held a 44-31 advantage on the glass and limited Mitchell to just 31-percent shooting on the night. The Camels shot 48 percent from the floor and recorded 16 assists on 23 field goals.
