KEUKA PARK, NY - A total of 11 members from the Alfred University women's basketball team scored as part of a 69-43 win over Keuka College on Friday evening from the JMW Recreation and Athletics Center.

The Saxons (9-4, 4-3 Empire 8) attempted a program-record 50 shots from three-point range while outrebounding the Wolves (3-10, 0-6 Empire 8) by a 45-34 margin.

Ana Ion (Bucharest, Romania/Episcopal School of Jacksonville) led Alfred University with a team-high 21 points, shooting 7-of-12 from the field. Grace Rittenhouse (Dansville, NY/Dansville) finished the game with 12 points, four rebounds, four steals and three assists. Leah Harkenrider (Hornell, NY/Hornell) added nine points and four steals for AU.

"The ball movement was really good today against Keuka's zone and it led to a lot of rhythm threes," Head Coach Mike Moskowitz said. "I was very pleased with our shot selection. Tonight's performance was entirely due to our defensive execution. We were excellent in the press and pretty good in the half court. They hit some half court threes because we were on our heels a bit, but overall, we're very pleased with our defense the last few games."

The Wolves were the first to score in the opening minutes of the first quarter, but AU responded with a 9-0 run to take the early lead. Seven different Saxons scored in the first quarter before carrying a 21-6 lead into the second quarter. Allison O'Toole (Simi Valley, CA/Simi Valley) opened scoring for the Saxons in the second quarter. Alfred University scored three times from beyond the arc to go into halftime with a 37-17 advantage.

The Saxons relied on three shots from three-point range as part of an 11-0 run to begin the second half. AU scored an additional basket from deep to lead 58-26 with one quarter remaining. The Wolves opened the fourth quarter with a 10-3 run, but consecutive three-point shots from Ion were followed by a layup from Amber O'Toole (Simi Valley, CA/SImi Valley) in the closing seconds to secure the victory.

"We have to keep executing on defense and sharing the ball on offense against a talented, tough Utica team," Moskowitz said.

Alfred University will next remain on the road for a conference matchup against Utica University on Saturday, with tip-off currently scheduled for 2:00 PM.
