JACKSON, Miss. – The Millsaps women's basketball team used bench depth and fast break offense to storm past Oglethorpe, 63-54 inside the Hangar Dome on Sunday.
 
Millsaps (12-2, 3-0 SAA) dominated in transition (17-0 fast break) and found contributors throughout the lineup (31-11 bench points).
 
Oglethorpe (5-7, 0-3 SAA) was held to 24.2 percent (16-of-66), while the Majors fired 37.7 percent (20-of-53).
 
Sophomore Haley Franklin had another terrific all-around game with 18 points, eight rebounds, three assists and two steals. She graced past Oglethorpe with seven points in the first quarter.

Classmates Whitney Novak and Emily Adams both tallied eight points each. Junior Helena Roe (11 points, two blocks, two assists) stepped up big as well.
 
With 4:24 left in the first quarter, Franklin put the Majors on the board trailing only 6-2. DeZarae Stewart was the other Major to score a field goal in the opening quarter, giving the Majors a 10-9 edge.
 
Millsaps would lead by eight points twice in the second quarter, which featured a 9-0 run by the Majors and 7-0 rally by the visitors. The Majors would end the first half up 29-23.
 
Millsaps upped the pressure in the third quarter by holding the Stormy Petrels a low 21 percent shooting (4-of-19) during that 10-minute span and built a 48-36 advantage entering the final frame.  
 
Going into the fourth quarter, senior Devan Caldwell (five rebounds) started the fourth quarter with a huge steal resulting in an Adams fast-break layup. The basket gave Millsaps its largest lead of the contest at 50-36.

Oglethorpe would claw back and make it a 57-51 game with 2:24 remaining, but Novak would seal the victory with a clutch three-pointer nearly a minute later.
