Women’s Basketball Tallies Seventh Consecutive Win in Record-Setting Fashion on Tuesday

JACKSON, Miss. It was a record-setting evening as the Millsaps women's basketball team dominated Belhaven in a rematch, claiming a 97-55 victory inside the Hangar Dome on Tuesday.
 
Millsaps (8-2) never trailed, posted the largest margin of victory and totaled the most points scored in the 37th meeting of the all-time series.
 
Belhaven (3-2) was held to 32.2 percent (19-of-59) and zero percent from long range (0-of-13).
 
Coming into the game with an efficient offensive playstyle, the Majors were a productive 46.4 percent (32-of-69). The 97 points were also the most since Millsaps accumulated 110 at Birmingham-Southern on Feb. 28, 2021.
 
Sophomore guard Haley Franklin had a standout game, tallying 31 points on 11-of-18 shooting. Junior guard DeZarae Stewart tied her career-high 18 points and swatted two blocks.

Other key contributors included junior forward Helena Roe (eight blocks) and freshman forward Elyse Warren (eight points, seven rebounds).
 
The Majors bested the Blazers in all categories across the court, including bench points (50-18), points in the paint (52-32), fast-break tallies (23-12) and rebounds (40-27) .
 
Going into the second half of the game ahead 31-19, Millsaps played at an even higher level. The Majors outscored the Blazers 30-22 in the third quarter and an incredible 36-14 in the fourth. Millsaps cruised to a 97-55 victory in the rematch after falling at Belhaven, 88-74 on Nov. 8.
