Gwynedd Valley, Pa. - (12/5/2022) - Salisbury University (3-8) thought they had tonight's contest won, but a long inbound and a quick pass from senior guard Elise Sylvester (Pottstown, Pa.) to junior guard Lynzie Eggers (Turnersville, N.J.) reversed fortunes in tonight's 80-79 victory. The last-second bucket left Eggers as the leading scorer (25 points) for Gywnedd Mercy University (6-1), but senior forward Haley Crossley (Philadelphia, Pa.) captained the Griffin effort with 23 points, 12 rebounds, five assists, and four steals.

Griffin Highlights

  • Salisbury University out rebounded (59-41) and out shot Gwynedd Mercy University from both the field (40.7% - 36.1%) and three-point range (26.7% - 19.2%), but the Griffins forced the Sea Gulls into 21 turnovers and cashed in on their free throw chances (23-of-29, 79.3%) to make up the difference.
  • A 21-14 first quarter gave Gwynedd Mercy University the early advantage. They carried the lead until a 25-25 (4:20) second-quarter stalemate, but separated for a 32-31 halftime lead thanks to a late Crossley steal-and-score (32-29, 0:20).
  • Eggers made all 12 of her free throw attempts (12-of-12, 1.000) en route to a season-high 25 points. She also recorded six rebounds, four assists, and three steals.
  • Crossley was 8-of-18 (.444) from the field and 7-of-9 (.778) from the free throw line. Her five assists matches her career-high which was recorded in a 83-78 loss at Marywood University on January 21, 2022.
  • Sylvester was the third Griffin in double figures with 14 points. She also recorded three rebounds, five assists, and a steal.
  • Senior forward Cayla Sharkey (Lansdale, Pa.) was a defensive force with 12 rebounds (11 defensive), six blocks, and two steals. She also provided seven points and three assists.
