ROANOKE, Va. - The EMU women's basketball team headed south on Saturday, to match up against Hollins University for an ODAC road game.
The Royals were able to escape Hollins with a two-point win, taking down the Green and Gold 62-60, led by great games from the trio of Mya Hamlet, Brii Redfearn and Lauryn Moore.

Highlights
First Quarter
Redfearn came out strong for the Royals as she was able to tally nine of her 13 total points on 4-8 shooting from the field, including a three, to give the offense a boost. In a tight one, the Royals saw themselves tied with Hollins at 16 apiece at the end of one.
Second Quarter
The second quarter was led by an offensive attack from Hamlet. She was able to score 11 points on a perfect 3-3 from the field. Hamlet's steady offense created separation on the scoreboard for the Royals as they led by eight at the half, outscoring Hollins 19-11 in the frame.
Third Quarter
The Royals looked to extend their eight-point lead in the third quarter. Hamlet and Moore added nine points each in the quarter, including a 3-3 three-point effort from Moore. The quarter ended with EMU extending their lead to 16, 56-41.
Fourth Quarter
Hollins came out the gate with a 7-0 run to start the fourth quarter, and a 15-4 run in the first six minutes, to cut EMU's lead to five. Hollins was able to get as close as one, 61-60, with 10 seconds remaining in the game, but a free throw from Trinity Washington proved to be the deciding factor as the Royals defense held Hollins without a shot to finish out the win.

EMU will look to defend home court on Wednesday as they face off with Virginia Wesleyan. Tipoff against the Marlins is 5 pm.
