Rowan Sinks Salisbury, 71-54, in Home Opener

GLASSBORO, NJ -- Rowan ran past Salisbury, 71-54, Saturday afternoon in the home opener for the Profs.

Grace Marshall netted 13 points with Nicole Mallard and Savanna Holt each kicking 11 as the Profs put together its third win in a row. Marshall and Holt combined to hit five of the team's seven three-pointers on the day.

For Salisbury, Ashlynn Burrows and Emma Wivell scored 12 points apiece respectively.

Holt's triple gave the home team a 10-point lead in the latter stages of the first quarter before the Sea Gulls cut it to 22-17. Now tied at 22-22 early in the second, the Profs closed the stanza on a 14-2 run to lead 36-24 at the half.

The lead remained in double figures in the third, but Rowan kept the foot on the pedal. Another scoring run leading into the fourth quarter (14-0) was capped by a bucket from Shayla Johnson for Rowan's largest lead of the day, 66-40.

The team shot 44.8% for the contest (30-of-67) while limiting Salisbury to a 17-of-55 (30.9%) effort. Ayanna Johnson was the top rebounder, snaring a game-high seven while Danielle McCurdy had four of the team's eight blocks.

Rowan will travel to TCNJ on Wednesday for an NJAC showdown starting at 5 p.m.
