Spartans Fall Short Against Bulldogs' Late Basket

NORTH MANCHESTER, Ind. - The Manchester women's basketball team was edged out by the visiting Adrian Bulldogs in a non-conference matchup on Wednesday, November 16th. The final score of Wednesday's contest was 67-66. 

After a back-and-forth game that saw four lead changes and eight tied scores, Adrian was able to regain the lead on a late basket and free throw attempt by Julia Tierman with 3 seconds left in the 4th quarter. Manchester was unable to answer after missing two free throws with 1 second left in the game. 

Makayla Clement led the Bulldogs with 16 points, 1 steal, and 1 block. Kourtney Crawford chipped in 11 points and 6 rebounds for Adrian while Jordan Phillips and Ashlyn Weatherly each added 1 block a piece. As a team, Adrian shot 41.9% (26-62) from the field and 66.7% (10-15) from the free throw line. 

First-Year Maddi Smith (Kewanna, Ind., Castonled the Black and Gold with 20 points and 6 rebounds. Ally Graber (Mooresville, Ind., Mooresville) would add 12 points and 1 steal, while Hailee Kline (Huntington, Ind., Blackhawk Christian) would chip in 11 points 1 steal for MU. As a team, Manchester shot 40.7% (22-54) from two-point range and 46.9% (15-32) from the free throw line. 

Manchester will be back in action on Saturday, November 19th. The Spartans will host Rockford in Stauffer-Wolfe Arena at 2:00 p.m.
