La PLUME, Pa. – Keystone women's basketball team will be defending its title after outlasting Notre Dame of Maryland, 75-73, Wednesday evening in Colonial States Athletic Conference Championships semifinal action at the Gambal Athletic Center.
The Giants and Gators took it down to the final minute as NDMU held a one-point lead and looked to be in the driver's seat with possession of the ball and 38 seconds left on the clock. Abby Ritz (Tunkhannock, Pa./Tunkhannock Area) stood strong against a Chantel Curry-drive to cause a loose ball scooped up by Lee Gordon (Philadelphia, Pa./Penn Wood) to be taken down the court for a right-side banked layup for the lead.
After a timeout, the Gators came up empty thrice on shot attempts as Bella Lamonea (Glendora, Calif./South Hills) got the rebound and was fouled to essentially end the game with 1 second remaining.
With the win, Keystone advances to Saturday afternoon's championship showdown against nearby Clarks Summit. Tip-off is set for 1 p.m.
Outstanding Performers
- Gordon led the Giants on 24 points with four 3-pointers to go along with five rebounds, three assists and three steals. The senior had 10 points alone in the fourth quarter.

The California-native hit a deep 3-pointer in the closing seconds of the first half to cap a 10-4 run that helped the Giants cut NDMU's largest lead of eight points to just two at the break.
- Ritz tallied her ninth double-double of the season on 13 points and 12 rebounds to go along with four assists and two steals.
- NDMU's Alexis Durham took all but two of her 16 total field-goal attempts from beyond the arc, splashing on six of them to finish with 19 points, eight rebounds and seven assists.
