MADISON, Wis. – The Edgewood College Women's Basketball team opened postseason play with a convincing 73-23 win over Illinois Tech. Edgewood College, the No. 4 seed in the league tournament, will now host No. 5 Aurora University in the quarterfinals on Wednesday night.
EAGLES 73, SCARLET HAWKS 23
- The Eagles (12-12) were in control from the start as Illinois Tech (5-20) struggled to put the ball in the basket on Saturday. Edgewood College built a 40-17 lead at halftime and then held IIT to six points in the second half, all six late in in the fourth quarter.
- Edgewood College shot 48.2 percent from the floor and finished the game with a 44-10 advantage in points in the paint. Eden Bonser played a big role in the Eagles ability to get out and run on Saturday as she scored 16 points to pace the Eagles. Bonser played a big part in the 22 transition points for Edgewood College.
- Diamond Pikulyk added 15 points on 7-of-10 shooting for the Eagles, while also knocking down a 3-point jump shot in the fourth quarter. The rest of the Eagles lineup was balanced as 11 different players scored with Abby Shane and Kallie Norby the next highest at seven points each.
- The Eagles made things difficult for Illinois Tech all game, holding the Scarlet Hawks to 17.5 percent (10-for-57) shooting, while forcing 23 turnovers. The Eagles themselves were careless with the ball in the first half, committing 11 turnovers, but they cleaned up those miscues after the break and committed just four the rest of the way.
- Edgewood College assisted on 20-of-27 makes with Claudia Fieras leading the team with five.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- The Eagles are now 4-1 in NACC Tournament games under head coach Chaia Huff. Edgewood College captured the league tournament title with two wins in the 2019-20 season and they reached the NACC North Final a season ago. They are now 3-0 in home tournament games under Huff's guidance as well with one win in each of the last three seasons.

- The Eagles will host fifth-seeded Aurora on Wednesday in the Todd Wehr Edgedome at 7 p.m. Edgewood College and Aurora split the regular season meetings with the road team winning each time. Aurora won the first game, 78-65, on January 25 in the Edgedome, while the Eagles returned the favor with a 91-65 win on February 8.
