GRINNELL, Iowa - Two nights earlier, Grinnell College's women's basketball team needed overtime to defeat Beloit College.

On Thursday, the Pioneers decided not to make things so dramatic. Sparked by a 24-10 scoring edge in the fourth period, Grinnell disposed of the Buccaneers 74-58 at Darby Gymnasium.

Erin Lillis '24 erupted for a career-best 31 points as the Pioneers moved to 6-8 in the Midwest Conference and 9-12 in all games. Beloit fell to 0-15 in the league and 4-19 in all games.

Aidan Coalson '22 just missed a double-double for Grinnell as she paired 10 rebounds with nine points. Lillis added four steals and three assists.

Beloit bolted out to a 19-13 lead by the end of the first period, but the Pioneers rallied for a 33-30 halftime edge.

Grinnell built a 10-point lead late in the third period when Eva Carchidi's '24 3-pointer made it 50-40. But the Buccaneers wouldn't go away and closed within 50-48 at the end of the frame.

Beloit took a two-point lead early in the fourth period, but Grace Marsh '25 countered with a 3-pointer to give Grinnell a lead it would never relinquish.

Leading 61-56 midway through the final period, the Pioneers delivered the final dagger with an 11-0 run that included a basket and two free throws from Lillis, jumper and free throw by coalson and buckets by Sofia Ahooja '22 and Sarah Booher '25 to make it 72-56. The Pioneers coasted the rest of the way.

Grinnell concludes the regular season with two road games, playing at Lake Forest College Saturday afternoon and Illinois College Sunday afternoon.
