#13 DePauw Moves Closer to NCAC Title

Oberlin, Ohio - DePauw outscored host Oberlin, 10-2, over the final 4:40 of its North Coast Athletic Conference game and pulled away for a 51-41 victory. The Tigers, ranked 12th in the coaches' poll and 13th by D3hoops.com, improved to 19-2 overall and 11-0 in the NCAC, while the Yeowomen moved to 17-3 overall and 10-3 in the NCAC.

Oberlin scored the game's first points and that would be its only lead of the game. DePauw took a 14-6 advantage into the second quarter and briefly extended it to double digits at 16-6. The Yeowomen scored the next eight to close the gap to two before the Tigers took a 24-18 lead into the intermission.

The Tigers pushed the lead back to eight in the third at 30-22, but the Yeowomen scored six-straight to cut the margin to two. DePauw took a 35-32 lead into the final quarter.

The teams exchanged buckets over the opening five minutes of the final stanza with Sammy Spanier trimming the lead to 41-39 with a 3-pointer at the 4:41 mark. Neither team scored on their next possession before Mya Shannon pushed the margin to four with a bucket with 3:26 left.

Following an Oberlin turnover, the teams exchanged misses before Grace Kinsey extended the Tigers' lead to 45-39 with a layup with 1:08 left. Alyson Jefferson countered with two free throws, but Campbell Montgomery's layup with 32 seconds remaining made it 47-41. 

Oberlin failed to connect on the offensive end and Mya Shannon knocked in all four free throws she attempted over the final 13 seconds to secure the win.

Maeve Summerville led the Tigers with 12 points, while Montgomery and Shannon added 10 apiece. Montgomery hauled down 11 boards for the double-double.

Camille Zinaich, Bryana Woodard and Jefferson each scored 10 for Oberlin and Zinaich finished with eight rebounds and five assists.

The Tigers shot 34.4 percent from the field to Oberlin's 31.5 percent and held a 41-40 edge on the boards. DePauw committed just 11 turnovers to the Yeowomen's 17.

DePauw travels to Hiram tomorrow for a 2 p.m. NCAC game.
