Oribello & Lamonea Hit 1,000 Points in 78-70 Win at Cairn

LANGHORNE, Pa. – Mac Oribello (San Diego, Calif./Westview) and Bella Lamonea (Glendora, Calif./South Hills) became the ninth and 10th players in Keystone College women's basketball history to reach the 1,000 career point milestone in Wednesday's 78-70 win at Cairn University.

Oribello entered the contest with 989 career points and finished with 19 points behind 5-of-10 shooting from downtown, currently giving her 1,008 points. The lefty tallied seven assists, three boards, and two steals in 30 minutes of action.

Lamonea, meanwhile, had 990 points before Wednesday and finished with 13 points, giving her 1,003 on her career. She shot 5-of-13 from the field with eight rebounds and three helpers.

The duo joins eight other Giants that earned 1,000+ career points and are the first players since Jazmyn Robinson (2011-15) and Alyssa Cuomo (2011-15) to hit the threshold.

With the victory, the Giants improve to 13-7 (11-4 CSAC) and will host Cedar Crest College (5-11, 4-9 CSAC) on Saturday, Feb. 12 at 1 p.m. The Highlanders drop to 8-14 (6-9 CSAC) and travel to the University of Valley Forge (4-13, 4-10 CSAC) on Saturday at 2 p.m.

Currently, the Giants hold the No. 2 seed in the CSAC standings while Cairn holds the No. 6 slot.

Joining Oribello and Lamonea in double figures were Renata Alberici (Hazlet, N.J./Raritan)Lee Gordon (Philadelphia, Pa./Penn Wood), and Abby Ritz (Tunkhannock, Pa./Tunkhannock Area) with 14, 11, and 10 points, respectively.

Alberici shot 6-of-10 from the field and added three boards, two assists, two steals, and two blocks. Gordon just missed a double-double with nine boards and is now 41 points shy of 1,000 career. Ritz notched a double-double including 11 rebounds. Megan Weber (South Williamsport, Pa./South Williamsport Area) and Laya Butts (Wilkes-Barre, Pa./Coughlin) combined for 11 points off the bench. 

For Cairn, Taylor Hinson and Kailee Sobrino notched 17 points each.

Keystone enjoyed a 40-26 halftime lead and extended that advantage to 64-37 (27 points) after the third quarter. The Highlanders outscored the Giants 33-14 in the fourth and enjoyed a 30-7 run in the final 8:20, going 11-of-12 on their final 12 shots.

The Giants were ahead by just six (76-70) with 37 seconds left before winding down the clock, with Ritz grabbing an offensive board and getting the putback to ice the contest at 78-70.
