Gwynedd Valley, Pa. - (1/19/2022) - After trailing Marymount University () by nine points, 34-25 (1:34), at halftime and 11 points, 42-31 (6:59), with seven minutes to play in the third quarter, Gwynedd Mercy University (9-9, 3-2) rallied to tie tonight's Atlantic East Conference (AEC) contest, 42-42 (2:54), just after the three-minute mark. The contest remained close until the end of the period, where the Saints hung on by a one-point edge; 49-48 (0:22). Unfortunately, Marymount University opened the final frame with 11-2 run that put the Griffins down double digits, 60-50, with 8:18 remaining. Over the next six minutes clutch baskets from junior forward Haley Crossley (Warminster, Pa.) (4:42, 3:06, 2:44) and free throws from sophomore guard Lynzie Eggers (Turnersville, N.J.) (4:30, 4:20, 2:03) brought Gwynedd Mercy University within four points, 64-60, with 2:44 to go. The spread remained the same, 72-68 (0:16), when freshman guard Alexis Eagan (Drexel Hill, Pa.) scored with 16 seconds on the scoreboard. But an unlucky foul put the Saints at the line for the final point of the affair; 73-68 (0:14).

Eggers was Gwynedd Mercy University's with 23 points in excess of her three steals. Crossley finished with her eighth double-double of the season as she paired an assist, a block, and three steals, with 16 points and 13 rebounds. At point, junior guard Elise Sylvester (Pottstown, Pa.) offered five points, two rebounds, and four assists to the Griffin effort.
