CHICAGO, Ill. – The Carroll University women's basketball team tied the team record for most points scored in a game with a 104-48 victory over the North Park Vikings. Carroll first set this mark back in 1978, and the last time Carroll scored 104 was in 2014. Six Pios finished in double digits, with Natalie Palzkill's 12 points leading all scorers, and with Chole Halverson picking up her first career double-double with an 11-point, 12 rebound night.

The Pioneers (11-3, 3-3 CCIW) have won six-straight games, the longest streak since the 2007-2008 season. Carroll made a season-high 44-84 field goals, while just three of them were three-point baskets. Carroll hit the 50 rebound mark for the second time this season and finished with a season-low nine turnovers while collecting a season-high 22 steals. The Pioneers finished with 52 points off the bench led by Halverson and Elizabeth Behrndt. 82 of Carroll's points came inside the paint against a shorthanded Viking team.

Carroll's first made basket came from Olivia Rangel's (9 PTS, 3 STL) steal and score fast-break layup just 48 seconds into the game. Carroll started the game on a 12-0 run and won the first quarter 30-10. The Pioneers shot 56% on 14-25 shooting and held the Vikings to just 4-11 with two free throws. Carroll's first 30-point lead of the night came from Katie Evan's (10 PTS, 2-4 3PM) fast-break layup with 4:40 left in the first half. Evans knocked down a three-pointer off a Kate Christian (10 PTS, 4 AST, 4 REB) assist to take a 35-point lead into halftime.

Behrndt scored the first points of the second half for the Pioneers to start an 8-0 run. The Vikings were able to match the Pioneers in the third quarter, scoring a game-high 19 points on 7-13 shooting, but were still down 37 going into the fourth quarter. The Pioneers were able to cruise to victory after taking a 50-point lead with 4:15 remaining. Lauren Soyke (11 PTS, 5 REB) was able to crack the 100-point mark with 2:37 left, and Megan Madsen (8 PTS) hit two free throws to tie the record.

Carroll will have another week-long break before their next big game, rematching with the Titans of Illinois Wesleyan on Saturday, January 22 in Van Male Field House. The Pioneers are searching for revenge after falling to IWU in December 62-75.
