GROVE CITY, Pa. -- Freshman Meghan Dryburgh (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin) posted a career-high 23 points and added nine rebounds to lead the Washington & Jefferson College women's basketball team to a 75-53 win over host Grove City College Saturday in a Presidents' Athletic Conference contest at the College Arena in Mercer County.

Dryburgh shot the ball went throughout the contest, as the first-year President converted on 10-of-14 field goal attempts and drained three-of-four attempts at the free throw line. Dryburgh added nine rebounds, two assists, two blocks and two steals in the victory. Senior guard Piper Morningstar (Wexford, Pa./North Allegheny) joined Dryburgh in double figures with 13 points of her own.

Freshman guard Bryn Bezjak (Uniontown, Pa./Albert Gallatin) added nine points off of the bench while sophomore forward Sarah Berardelli (Ambridge, Pa./North Catholic) chipped in eight points, six rebounds and three assists. Junior forward Victoria Koeck (Sidman, Pa./Forest Hills) matched Dryburgh with the team lead in rebounds with nine.

The teams battled back and forth through a close contest for the first three quarters of play before the visiting Presidents broke things open in the final 10 minutes. The Presidents led 18-15 after the first quarter as senior guard Kamryn Lach (Bethel Park, Pa./Bethel Park) and Koeck helped establish an early lead with three-point field goals. A jumper by Bezjak with 1:44 to play in the opening quarter gave W&J an 18-11 advantage.

Dryburgh tallied nine of her 21 points in the second quarter as the Presidents continued to hold the lead. W&J led by as many as eight points in the frame before settling for a 36-32 edge at halftime. A late three-pointer by Bezjak allowed W&J to extend its lead to five points (47-42) after three quarters of play.

The Presidents produced a strong fourth quarter by converting seven-of-11 field goal attempts and 13-of-14 free throw attempts in the final frame. W&J held Grove City to just four field goals in the fourth as they outscored the hosts by a 28-11 margin and pulled away for the 22-point win.

W&J was able to hold Grove City to 53 points despite allowing the hosts to rack up 21 offensive rebounds. The Wolverines had a 29-15 edge in rebounding at halftime but the Presidents were able to trim that margin to 42-40 overall for the game.

The win is the fourth straight for the Presidents, who improve to 6-0 in PAC play and 9-3 overall. The loss drops the Wolverines to 3-2 in league play and 6-5 overall.

W&J, who has not played a home game in exactly a month, is scheduled to host Chatham (Wednesday, Jan. 19) and Westminster (Saturday, Jan. 22) next week.
