WORCESTER -- Another game, another victory for the WPI women's basketball team who captured its 10th victory of the year with a 56-46 win over Trinity on Tuesday night at Harrington Auditorium.  

The Engineers (10-1) were paced by a 23-point output from Melanie Presseau (Manchester, NH), her first career 20-point game. Presseau was 9-of-17 from the field in the outing, knocking down a career-best five treys to help WPI to the win.  

Presseau was aided by a 12-point burst from Alex Scariati (Scotch Plains, NJ) who also added six rebounds while Allison McMorrow (Quincy, MA) netted a career-high eight points off the bench going 2-for-2 from behind the arc.  

Trinity (7-3) was led by a 12-point effort from Tori Varsamis (Belmont, MA) and a 10-point outing from Reilly Campbell (Wallingford, CT) off the bench. Bria Fuller (Springdale, MD) tacked on eight points.  

The Bantams were held to 31.7 percent shooting from the field and just 8.3 percent from deep. For the 10th time this season, in as many wins, the Engineers outrebounded their opponent, this time 47-35 while also outscoring them 30-14 in the paint. The team's rebound margin of 10.7 entering the game ranked 20th in the nation and third in the conference.  

The first period had a lot of offense in a tight 10 minutes that saw Trinity come out on top 16-15 thanks to an 8-0 run to end the frame finished by back-to-back buckets from Campbell. Trinity kept the advantage for the majority of the second quarter, playing tight with the Engineers and headed into halftime with a 29-25 lead.  

For the second-straight game, in the third quarter, the Engineers' offense came alive while the defense stunted Trinity holding the Bantams to just four points. After Varsamis knocked down a free throw to start things off, WPI raced out on a 13-0 run that spanned 7:43 kicked off by a Presseau jumper that featured seven points from Presseau and five from McMorrow to take a 38-30 lead.  

A Vasamis trey, Trinity's lone 3-pointer of the game, cut into the WPI lead early into the fourth quarter, but the Engineers' offense stayed hot and back-to-back threes from Presseau and Scariati put things out of reach en route to the victory. 

WPI will look to keep the momentum going against Mitchell on Friday night at Harrington Auditorium at 6pm while Trinity will continue on its road trip heading to Bowdoin on Friday at 7pm to kick off NESCAC play.
