Millikin Women’s Basketball Wins at Eureka

The Millikin women's basketball team won its final non-conference game of the season winning at Eureka College 87-43 on January 3 in Eureka, Illinois.

 

Playing for the first time in over 15 days, the Big Blue started slow, but held a 17-13 lead after one quarter. Millikin led 35-25 at halftime. Millikin broke open the game in the third quarter out scoring the Red Devils 25-8. The Big Blue finished off the game with a 27-10 advantage in the fourth quarter.

 

Millikin shot 51 percent (38-75) from the field making 6-19 (32 percent) from three-point range. Eureka was held to 26 percent (15-58) from the field. Millikin won the rebounding battle 44-39. The Big Blue forced Eureka into 32 turnovers.

 

Elyce Knudsen led Millikin with 24 points, eight rebounds and three assists. Bailey Coffman added 12 points and grabbed seven rebounds. Aubrey Staton and Brin Hultz each scored 10 points. Jordan Hildebrand scored nine points with eight rebounds and four assists.

 

Shakaya Rogers led Eureka with 14 points and eight rebounds.

 

Millikin is now 10-3 while Eureka falls to 3-6. The Big Blue return to College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) action on Saturday, January when they travel to North Park University in Chicago.
