ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Senior Miyah Sizer led a four-player contingent in double figures with 19 points Thursday as host Nazareth brushed off the cobwebs from a 22-day holiday layoff to post an 86-62 victory over Alfred State in women's basketball action.

The Golden Flyers, who last played on Dec. 8, won for the fourth straight time to improve to 5-4 overall. Alfred State is 7-4 overall.

Sizer's 19 points included four three-point baskets as she was just one point shy of her career best that she had last spring against Russell Sage. She also contributed five assists and five rebounds. Senior Jadyn Abrams added 18 points and nine rebounds. Senior Caley Cornwell equaled her career-high with 15 points ans Sabrina Wolfe had 15 points, eight rebounds, four assists and five steals.

Nazareth never trailed in the game and got off to a good start by outscoring the Pioneers 18-6 over the first five minutes. Cornwell scored Nazareth's first seven points and Abrams, Wolfe and Sizer each nailed three-point shots to fuel the scoring run. However, a scoring drought ensued as the Pioneers were able to score the last 11 points of the first period to close within 18-17.

Alfred State stayed close in the second quarter even though Nazareth freshman Madilann Johnson came off the bench to hit a pair of three-point shots to keep the Golden Flyers on top, 38-31, at the half.

Nazareth was able to dominate the third and fourth quarters with scoring runs of 29-23 and 19-8. The Golden Flyers went 12-for-20 from the floor in the third quarter with four three-pointers and 6-for-16 in the fourth. Grad student Haley Schoelerman came off the bench to add seven points in the second half.

The Golden Flyers are home again Tuesday to open their Empire 8 Conference schedule against Houghton at 5:30 p.m.
