Gwynedd Valley, Pa. - (11/30/2021) - Gwynedd Mercy University (4-4) showed little rust in their return from Thanksgiving break as double-doubles from junior forward Haley Crossley (Warminster, Pa.) (14 points, 14 rebounds) and sophomore forward Natalie O'Neill (Philadelphia, Pa.) (10 points, 16 rebounds) propelled the Griffins to an 83-55 win over Penn State Berks (0-7). In addition to Crossley and O'Neill, junior guard Lynzie Eggers (Turnersville, N.J.) (17 points), senior guard Elise Sylvester (Pottstown, Pa.) (16 points), and junior guard Kelly Owens (Schwenksville, Pa.) (12 points) also finished in double figures. Eggers added five rebounds, four assists, and four steals to her 16 points, Sylvester offered six rebounds, nine assists, and two steals in excess of her 16 points, and Owens recorded two rebounds, an assist, and a steal to her dozen. Gwynedd Mercy University hit 17 of their 30 field goals (30-of-94, .319) from long range (17-of-65, .262), outrebounded the Nittany Lions 61-43, and forced the visitors into 18 turnovers.

Gwynedd Mercy University never trailed and only allowed Penn State Berks a tie at 3-3 (9:31) as a slower-paced game plan helped the Griffins separate for as many as 19 points (28-9, 0:48) in a 16-point first-quarter spread; 28-12 (0:09). From there, Gwynedd Mercy University kept their distance to a 46-25 halftime advantage, a 68-34 third-quarter favor, and an 83-55 final; a layup from freshman forward Mallory Cree (Altoona. Pa.) maxed the difference at 42 points, 80-38, with 5:18 remaining in the fourth quarter.

Gwynedd Mercy University returns to the Griffin Complex on Saturday, December 4, when they host Albright College for a 1:00 p.m. tip-off.
