Grantham, Pa. - (11/20/2021) - With nine field goals (9-of-21, .429) and nine free throws (9-of-11, .818), sophomore guard Lynzie Eggers (Turnersville, N.J.) scored 31 points in the Griffins' 77-71 Messiah University Tip-Off Tournament Consolation victory over Saint Vincent College (1-3). Gwynedd Mercy University (3-3) emerged from the early scramble with an 11-7 (4:26) advantage on a three point basket from senior guard Elise Sylvester (Pottstown, Pa.). But the Bearcats rallied for a 22-19 (0:04) first-quarter edge and a 29-19 (6:59) second-quarter advantage before Sylvester could finally push the Griffins over the top with a flurry of plays. The last located junior guard Kelly Owens (Schwenksville, Pa.), who secured Gwynedd Mercy University a 35-34 (0:34) halftime lead with a late bucket. Eggers took over in the second half, scoring 25 of her 31 points in the latter half; she was 7-of-11 (.636) from the field and a perfect 8-of-8 (1.000) from the line while grabbing six rebounds and making a steal. The result was much as a 10-point, 50-40 (1:43), Griffin lead in the third quarter and as much as 18-point, 65-47 (6:55), lead in the fourth quarter.
