STEVENS POINT, WI - The Benedictine University women's basketball team kicked off play at the UW-Stevens Point Tip-Off Tournament by taking down the hosts in overtime.

The hosts held a 17-12 lead late in the opening quarter but a free throw from Sara Smith and a three-pointer from Claire Gibler brought Benedictine within 17-16
- Stevens Point opened a six-point lead in the second and held a 31-24 advantage at the half
- A big third quarter enabled Stevens Point to open a 47-36 lead in the final minute before four straight from Brilan McCory to close the quarter
- Britney Pitzer scored five in a row to bring Benedictine within 53-51 with 3:23 to play
- Five free throws helped Benedictine take the lead but UW-Stevens Point converted on a layup with 16 seconds remaining to send the game to overtime
- Benedictine did not trail in overtime as Pitzer scored the first three points of the extra session
- Gibler scored seven points in the extra session to help tally the first win of the year and the first in the career of head coach Oliver Wiseman

STAT LEADERS

Gibler played 42 minutes and scored 23 points to lead all scorers
- McCory added 11 while Hanna Piro posted 10 with nine rebounds while Pitzer also hit double figures with 10
- Benedictine finished with 32 points in the paint despite being outrebounded 41-31
- The team took advantage of 23 turnovers, producing 22 points
- Benedictine shot 41.2 percent from the floor but was just 5-for-25 from three-point range
