FREDERICK, Md. - Hood College's Morgan Anderson had 17 points and 15 rebounds as the women's basketball won its season opener against St. Mary's College of Maryland 73-37.

St. Mary's took an early 4-2 lead before Robinson started a 19-1 Blazer run that spanned over eight minutes of the first quarter. Anderson and Newson combined for 13 points in the run. A 3-pointer by Newson gave Hood a 16-point lead before a late 3-point field goal from the Seahawks' Amira Whitaker made it 21-8 at the end of the period.

Hood maintained a double-figure advantage throughout the second period and led by 18 after Etchison knocked down the final 3-pointer to end the half 36-18. Four different Blazers scored during a 15-6 run in the third quarter, ending with a Davis-Hans three-point play to give Hood a 51-24 lead.
