The #22 ranked Millikin women's basketball team opened its 2021-22 season with an 83-63 win over Westminster College in the Tip-off Classic at Millikin's Griswold Center on November 5.

Millikin jumped out to a 24-12 after the first quarter and led 46-27 at halftime.  The Big Blue shot 44 percent (30-68) from the field including making 39 percent (11-28) from three-point range. Millikin was 12-16 (75 percent) from the free throw line. Westminster was held to 36 percent (20-55) shooting. Millikin won the rebounding battle 44-36.

Sophomore preseason All-American Elyce Knudsen led Millikin with 27 points and seven rebounds. Bailey Coffman added 16 points, three rebounds and three assists. Jordan Hildebrand added 11 points and nine rebounds. Abby Ratsch had a team high 11 rebounds and six points.

Shelby Kurtz led Westminster with 16 points followed by Avylina Powell-Qualo with 13 and Madison Schaffer with 12.

Millikin will face Greenville University on Saturday at 4 p.m.
