Seventh-ranked DePauw moves to 3-0 with Win at Denison

Granville, Ohio - Paced by career-high scoring efforts from Emma LeMasters, Hayley Cange and Maeve Summerville, seventh-ranked DePauw moved to 3-0 with a 62-41 win at Denison. The Big Red dropped to 0-3 with the loss.

DePauw took a 26-20 lead into the halftime, but Denison opened the second half with a 10-3 run to take a 30-29 lead. The Big Red still led 34-33 with three minutes left in the third, but the Tigers roared back with an 8-1 stretch to grab a 41-35 lead as the teams headed to the final stanza. 

Denison was within four at 43-39 in the opening two minutes of the fourth before Maddie Howe buried a 3-pointer, the Tigers' first of the contest, that started a 19-2 game-ending run. DePauw shot 57 percent from the field in the fourth to Denison's 14 percent.

LeMasters led all scorers with 17, while Cange added a double-double of 13 points and 11 rebounds and Summerville totaled 11 points. Mikaila Carpenter led Denison with 12 points and Natalie Hutras hauled down five rebounds.

DePauw shot 41.5 percent from the floor and held Denison to just 28.3 percent and the Tigers outscored the Big Red from the line, 15-3. The Tigers held a commanding, 49-24, edge on the boards and outscored the hosts in the paint, 36-14 and on fast breaks, 14-0.

The two teams face each other in Greencastle on Saturday, February 13, at 3 p.m.
