How It Happened…

  • First Quarter
    • McDaniel took the early lead at 6-2 on a jumper by Storer in the paint. The Green Terror still led at 11-10 before a 10-2 run by the Bullets capped by a three-pointer by senior Kiera Cesareo (Randolph, N.J./Randolph). Gettysburg led 20-13 at the end of the period.
  • Second Quarter
    • The Bullets started strong with three buckets by Brown pushing the lead to 11 (26-15) just three minutes into the stanza. Gettysburg was off-target for the remainder of the half, missing its next seven attempts from the floor. Storer led McDaniel with seven points in the quarter as the Green Terror cut the deficit to 30-26 at halftime.
  • Third Quarter
    • Gettysburg's shooting woes carried over to the start of the second half with only one successful field goal attempt in six tries. Meanwhile, McDaniel pulled in front 36-35 following a fast-break lay-up by Storer at 5:18.
    • Gehrin started to heat up late in the period, knocking down her first three-pointer to lift the Bullets ahead 40-38 with 3:43 left in the period. She added two more long-range shots before the end of the frame and Gettysburg took a 52-46 lead into the final quarter of action.
  • Fourth Quarter
    • Gehrin dominated the fourth quarter, out-scoring McDaniel by herself (13-11) and hitting 8-of-8 free throws. Josey Klingenberg opened with a three-pointer to pull the Green Terror within three, but Gehrin answered right back with her own three-ball. Another bucket by the senior and a lay-up by Matto gave the hosts a 10-point advantage (59-49) with seven minutes to go.
    • Gehrin went to the line eight times over the final 3:12 and didn't miss. For a final exclamation, she capped her night with a block on McDaniel's final shot attempt.

By the Numbers

  • The Bullets came into the game ranked No. 19 in the Women's Basketball Coaches Associations (WBCA) Top 25 Poll and No. 22 in the D3hoops.com Top 25 Poll.
  • Gettysburg finished 20-of-42 (47.6 percent) from the floor, while McDaniel hit 23-of-61 (37.7 percent) of its attempts. The Bullets out-rebounded the Green Terror 40-24.
  • Gettysburg tied its season high with 23 made field goals. Gehrin's 13 made free throws broke the old mark held by five players with the most recent being Caroline Murphy '14 against Franklin & Marshall nearly six years ago.
  • Gehrin posted her second 30-point effort of the season. She scored a career-high 37 points at Saint Vincent in late December. Gehrin is the first Gettysburg player to score 30 or more points twice in the same season since Sue Marshall '85 posted a trio of 30-point efforts in 1984-85. Gehrin also moved into the top 10 in program history and currently sits 10th with 1,200 career points.
  • Gettysburg clinched its fourth consecutive 20-win season. Prior to 2016-17, the Bullets had logged a total of four 20-win seasons in program history.
  • Gettysburg and Haverford (19-3, 16-1 CC) remained tied atop the conference standings with three games left. The Fords defeated Muhlenberg College 66-51 Wednesday night.
