Yeshiva Blitzed by St. Joseph's College Brooklyn

NEW YORK – The Yeshiva University women's basketball team suffered a Skyline Conference loss to St. Joseph's College Brooklyn, 111-74, at Nat Holman Gymnasium on Tuesday evening. The Maccabees fall to 6-15 overall (3-13 Skyline), while the Bears advance to 13-9 (11-6 Skyline).

Leading the way for the Maccabees was freshman guard Yuval Nitzan, who tallied a team-high 28 points, while grabbing seven rebounds, distributing three assists, forcing four steals, and blocking a pair of shots. Senior forward Tehilla Teigman notched a double-double with 16 points and a game-high 17 rebounds, while forcing a pair of steals.

The Maccabees kept up with the Bears during the early stages of the game, as a 3-point field goal by Nitzan sliced YU's deficit to 11-10, with 7:37 remaining in the opening period. From that point on, St. Joseph's Brooklyn outscored the Maccabees, 25-4, for the remainder of the quarter to take a commanding lead it would not surrender. Yeshiva could not generate a consistent run to get back into the game, as SJCB went on to earn the convincing conference victory.

For Yeshiva, sophomore forward Mahlia Leventhal tallied nine points and five rebounds. Senior guard Adina Rosenberg contributed with eight points and four boards, while first-year forward Jennie Mellman tallied six points and clutched four rebounds.
