#4 DePauw Battles Wittenberg for 14 Straight Win

Greencastle, Ind. - For the seventh time in the last nine games, fourth-ranked DePauw limited an opponent to fewer than 50 points as the Tigers topped Wittenberg, 57-45. The hosts improved to 18-1 overall and 10-0 in the North Coast Athletic Conference with their 14th straight win, while Wittenberg dropped to 14-6 overall and 6-4 in conference play.

Wittenberg jumped out to a 5-0 lead and DePauw eventually closed the gap to 13-12 as Mya Shannon buried a 3-pointer with eight seconds left in the opening quarter. DePauw briefly took the lead in the second at 14-13, but the guests responded with an 8-2 run to grab a 21-16 advantage. 

The visiting Tigers secured their largest lead at 26-20 after Abigal Yunker hit a three with 3:54 left in the second, but that would be their last points of the half as DePauw rattled off the final seven capped by Shannon's three with 56 second left. 

Yunker's layup early in the third put Wittenberg back in front, but DePauw scored 13 straight starting with back-to-back 3-pointers by Natalie Kehrt, followed by Sydney Kopp's trey and a pair of buckets from Hayley Cange to make it 40-28 with 4:35 remaining in the third.

DePauw took a 42-36 lead into the fourth and Wittenberg was within five at 43-38 before the hosts gradually pulled away.

Shannon led all scorers with 14, while Kopp followed with 13. Claire Keefe snagged a game-high 11 rebounds and Grace Kinsey dished out five assists in the victory.

Delaney Williams was the lone double-figure scorer for Wittenberg with12 points and she led with three assists with Yunker grabbing eight boards.

DePauw shot 42.0 percent from the floor to Wittenberg's 36.0 percent and DePauw held a 37-28 edge on the boards.

With her 3-pointer in the third period, Kopp passed Savannah Trees (2012-16) on DePauw's all-time scoring list and now is second with 1,488 points. Maya Howard (2015-19) is the record holder with 1,539.

DePauw returns to action on Saturday, February 1, when it hosts Oberlin at 3 p.m.
