Visiting Ithaca Defeats Rochester, 73-65.

ROCHESTER, N.Y. -Kellyanne O'Reilly and Grace Cannon combined for 40 points, 16 rebounds, and six steals to lead visiting Ithaca to a 73-65 win over the University of Rochester at the Louis Alexander Palestra.

O'Reilly tied for game-scoring honors with 22 points. She had five rebounds, three assists, and three steals. She sank four of Ithaca's five three-point shots. Cannon had a double-double with 18 points and 11 boards. She added three steals. Ithaca is 4-3.

Juliana Okoniewski scored 22 points, grabbed eight rebounds, and made three steals to lead Rochester (5-5). Alexis Sestric scored 13 points. Hannah Lindemuth scored nine points.

The first quarter was back and forth – Ithaca ahead 6-0, UR up, 11-10. The Bombers went back in front, 23-18, on Cannon's jumper from the left of the key. Shannon Loiseau hit a12 footer in the lane and Sestric drove for a layup to cut the deficit to 23-22 after one. Rochester went back in front, 31-27, early in the second quarter after a 9-2 sprint: two free throws from Sestric, a putback by Loiseau, a driving layup from Kelsey Stites, and a trey from Sestric in the left corner.

Ithaca started to take control in the latter part of the second quarter and the beginning of the third. Rochester led, 32-29, with 5:44 left in the second quarter. O'Reilly and Cassidy O'Malley hit treys to key an 8-0 run for a 37-32 lead. It was 39-35 IC at halftime.

Rochester made only one field goal in the first six minutes of the third quarter, by which time Ithaca had stretched its lead to 49-40. It hovered around that point range until a 6-0 IC burst started the fourth quarter.

UR blocked seven shots – two by Okoniewski and Callie McCulley, one each by Lindemuth, Sestric, and Loiseau. Ludwick had four assists, Stites had three.

Rochester returns on January 7 hosting RIT in the first game of a doubleheader. The Yellowjackets open the UAA season at Emory on January 11.
