It was the highest scoring performance since Pam Gardner scored 37 for the Wolves against Cazenovia College in February 2007.

The host Spartans shot 50% from the floor, including three three-pointers in the opening quarter as they jumped out to a 19-11 lead over Keuka after the first.

The Green and Gold scored nine of the first 11 points of the second quarter. A three by Riley Record cut the deficit to one a 21-20 midway through the quarter. Back-to-back threes by Kaitlin Snipas (Crestwood, Pa. / Mountain Top) and Sam Laranjo gave the Wolves a 26-25 lead. However, D'Youville closed with a 10-1 run over the final 2:15 of the quarter to lead 35-27 at the half.

Keuka College cut into the lead again in the third. Laranjo and Record combined for eight points in 51 seconds to cut the margin to two at 39-37. A pair of Record free throws tied the game midway through the quarter and a layup by Record gave the Wolves a 43-41 lead. The Wolves would push the lead to four before D'Youville hit a pair of threes to regain the lead. The Spartans would remain ahead by four, 51-47 going into the fourth quarter.

Record and Laranjo once again teamed up as the duo scored the first two buckets of the fourth to tie the game. D'Youville would lead as the game went to the final minutes. A jumper by Laranjo made it a three-point game, 59-56, with 2:29 left to play. After Arianna DeNault (Latham, N.Y. / Shaker) went 1-2 from the free throw line to make it a two-point game, the Wolves got a stop on the defensive end. In transition up the court, Anna Hoover (Cape Vincent, N.Y. / Thousand Islands) was found under the basket for a layup to tie the game at 59-59 with 1:29 left. Once again, the Wolves got a stop and held possession with under a minute left. Meaghan McGwin (Rochester, N.Y. / Hilton) drilled a jumper to give Keuka a 61-59 lead. D'Youville would work the ball down and hit a three from the wing to take a 62-61 lead with 30 seconds left. For the Wolves, Sam Laranjo was fouled with 20 seconds left to play. The senior missed the first, but made the second to tie the game. As D'Youville was trying to get a last-second shot, Riley Record forced a jump-ball and a steal to stop any shot attempt as the game went to overtime tied 62-62.

In the bonus period, Sam Laranjo continued to shine in a career game. The senior scored the first seven points for Keuka with D'Youville managing only a layup on the other end. The Wolves led throughout overtime and would defeat D'Youville 75-71.

KC Notes:

  • Keuka College improves to 29-7 all-time against D'Youville, winning their sixth straight against the Spartans
  • It was the third time Keuka and D'Youville played into overtime with the Wolves winning the game all three times. In January 2007, the Wolves and Spartans played to three overtimes, the longest game in program history at Keuka College
  • 36 points scored by Laranjo is a new career-high. It also gives the senior exactly 700 points in her career
  • Laranjo shot 15-22 from the floor. The 15 made field goals is the fifth most in program history. The last person to have more was in a school-record 40-point performance by Vanessa Morgan in March 1990 against Ithaca College
  • Riley Record recorded a new season-high in points

Up Next for Keuka College: The Wolves have one final game before the Thanksgiving break. Keuka College will travel to future conference-mate Alfred University on Tuesday evening to face the Saxons. The two teams last faced each other in 2016 with the Saxons earning the 78-74 victory on their home floor.
