ALBION, Mich. – Albion College shot 32 percent – its third-worst in a game this season – as it was bounced from the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Women's Basketball Tournament with a 58-42 loss to Saint Mary's College at Kresge Gymnasium.
Saint Mary's knocked down a season-high 12 3-point baskets and shot 48 percent (12-of-25) from beyond the arc.
The teams traded the lead four times in the first quarter; however, Saint Mary's scored the final seven points to take a 14-10 lead.
Saint Mary's never trailed from that point, as Olivia Lathers hit 3-point baskets on consecutive possessions to lead the Belles to a 20-12 lead early in the second quarter. Saint Mary's led by as many as 14 in the quarter and settled for a 34-24 halftime lead.
Albion mounted a rally in the third quarter – Evelyn Wischmeyer hit the Britons only 3-point basket of the game and Rain Hinton added three points – to trail 39-32.
Jade Mosier provided the answer for Saint Mary's, scoring a pair of baskets, and Giavanna Paradiso tacked on a pair of free throws as the Belles led 46-32.
Saint Mary's led by as many as 22 in the fourth quarter.
Mosier led all players with 23 points. She stuffed the box score with five rebounds, three assists and a block. Paradiso added a double-double of 13 points and 10 rebounds.
Jami Hubbard, a senior playing in her final game for Albion, scored 14 points and grabbed eight rebounds. She made 7-of-8 shots.
Hinton, who learned of her all-MIAA first team selection earlier in the day, finished with 11 points, seven rebounds and two steals.
Albion finished the season with an 18-8 record.
