NORTHFIELD, Minn. – Senior Makenna Ash reached her 1,000-point milestone, but the St. Olaf College women's basketball team fell, 74-71, to the College of Saint Benedict on Saturday evening at Skoglund Center.

At 4:08 in the second quarter, Ash sank a basket and became the fifth St. Olaf women's basketball player since 1990 to record 1,000 career points. Ash, who currently holds the all-time rebounding record for the Oles, has recorded 266 points this season. She also posted 24 rebounds in the game, which is the most in a single game for an Ole since 2000.

First year K'Lynn Lewis led the Oles with 17 points and six assists, Ash posted 10 points and 24 rebounds, and first year Camryn Scott collected a career-high 13 points.  Sophomore Keegan Mulvihill and junior Britta Koenen each reached double figures, as Mulvihill tallied 12 and Koenen had 11.

At 7:05 in the first quarter, a three-pointer from Megan Thompson of CSB evened the score at 6-6, but the Oles ended the period with a six-point lead after holding the Bennies to just three points in the final four minutes of the period. The Bennies came within one point of the Oles in the final minute of the half, but a last second three-pointer from Lewis extended St. Olaf's lead to four heading into the second half.

After a three-pointer from Lewis in the first minute of the third quarter, the Bennies went on a 12-5 run and took their first lead of the game with 2:01 to go in the period. Maddie Schmitz sank a free throw and extended CSB's lead to five heading into the final period of the game.

The Bennies extended the lead to double figures as Thompson sank a three-pointer with 7:33 to go. Back-to-back baskets from Scott brought the Oles within seven with just under four minutes left in the game.

CSB extended their lead to as much as 11 points, but St. Olaf cut the lead to four after Lewis converted a four-point play for the Oles. Three-pointers from Mulvihill and Koenen in the last 17 seconds of the game would bring St. Olaf as close as three points.

Despite the Oles posting 20 second-chance points compared to just four from the Bennies, CSB forced 23 turnovers by St. Olaf, while recorded 24 points off those turnovers.

The Oles return to action on Wednesday, Feb. 13 as they host Hamline in a MIAC contest at Skoglund Center beginning at 7 p.m.
