BUFFALO, N.Y.— Princella McCullough (Rochester/Bishop Kearney) notched her 21st career double-double but it was not enough as Geneseo held a 19-5 advantage in free-throws made en route to a 68-57 victory over host Buffalo State in tonight's SUNYAC action.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • McCullough finished with 14 points and 15 rebounds to lead the Bengals in both categories.
  • Liv LeBaron (Corning/Corning East) added 13 points, six rebounds and six assists.
  • Katie Villarini (Hamburg/Hamburg) also chipped in 13 points to go along with eight rebounds, while Jenna Faulkner (Lockport/Starpoint) tallied seven points and three steals.
  • Buffalo State and Geneseo matched each other point-for-point in the opening minutes until the Knights closed the first quarter on a 11-4 run to take a 20-11 lead after 10 minutes of action.
  • Geneseo continued its strong offensive performance by scoring 10 of the first 15 points in the second frame and held the momentum to take a 37-27 halftime lead.
  • After the Knights pushed their lead to 50-35 with 3:19 left in the third stanza, Buffalo State responded with 3-pointers by Faulkner and Villarini to trim the deficit to 51-41 at the final intermission.
  • Geneseo outscored the Bengals 17-16 in the fourth quarter to complete the win.
  • Geneseo held a 28-22 advantage in points off turnovers and a 42-35 rebounding edge.
  • Buffalo State held a 33-28 advantage in the paint.

  • Natalie Alfieri led the Knights in scoring with 18 points on 4 of 6 shooting from the 3-point line.
