LOS ANGELES — Alyssa Ramlochan posted a monster double-double with a game-high 25 points and 16 rebounds, but the Occidental women's basketball team couldn't pull off a close one in a 69-61 loss to Caltech at Rush Gym on Saturday.
Ramlochan, a sophomore from Los Angeles, was 9 of 18 from the field and 7 of 8 from the foul line. She had an incredible 14 of her 16 rebounds at the defensive end of the court, and also dished out four assists.
Kaleinani Nallira scored 11 points, Raveena Dhiman added eight off the bench, and Emily Leonard chipped in six points for Oxy. Taylor Yoshida had eight points, four assists and two steals.
Caltech's best two efforts came from Grace Peng, who had 24 points in all 40 minutes played, and Elizabeth Eiden, who scored 20 points in all 40 minutes played, on 10 for 15 shooting. Eiden also grabbed a team-high 10 rebounds.
The game went back in fourth with a handful of lead changes midway through the fourth quarter before Caltech went on a 6-0 run to create some separation and force Oxy to foul.
Oxy jumped out to an early lead in the first half, but Caltech battled back into the game by the third quarter.
Season Impact: Oxy falls to 7-12 overall and 1-9 in SCIAC play.
The Beavers improve to 7-12 and 1-9.
Next Game: The Tigers are back in action, hosting Chapman on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
