WILLIMANTIC, Conn. – The Eastern Connecticut State University women's basketball team capitalized on 23.1 percent shooting by Connecticut College to outscore the Camels by 12 points in the third quarter and the Warriors went on to a 66-57 non-conference victory Tuesday evening at Francis E. Geissler Gymnasium.

Conn College (11-7) led by six points late in the first quarter but Eastern (11-6) outscored the Camels 34-15 in the middle two periods and withstood their 26-point fourth quarter to end a two-game losing streak at the hands of Conn.

In the third quarter, Eastern limited Conn to 23.1 percent shooting (3-of-13) and turned six Conn turnovers into ten points without allowing any on miscues. Trailing by 19 points midway through the fourth quarter, Conn sliced the Eastern lead to eight in the final two minutes before the Warriors cashed in six of eight free throws the rest of the way to hold on.

Senior forward Kelsey Santagata (Stamford) came off the bench for the first time in two years to lead four double-digit scorers for Eastern with 14 points in 23 minutes. She also had five rebounds and four assists. Junior forward Mya Villard (Cromwell) added 12 points and nine rebounds, junior guard Sabrina LeMere (North Branford) 11 points and freshman forward Anna Barry (Andover) chipped in ten points, six rebounds, two blocks and two assists in 34 minutes in her first career start. Junior guard Lizzy Cretella (Cheshire) equaled her career-high with nine rebounds and junior guard Julie Jordan (Sterling) had eight points and seven rebounds, helping the Warriors to a +16 advantage on the boards.

Eastern was 18-of-25 from the four line, 13-of-15 in the second half.

Senior guard Kylie Caouette (Ashburnham, MA) and freshman guar Claire Gulbin (Wilton) were Conn's high scorers in off-the-bench roles. Each had ten points, with senior forward Margaret Corcoran (Milton, MA) leading the Camels with eight rebounds.

Eastern visits Western New England University Thursday at 6 p.m. in a non-conference game before closing out the regular season with seven straight Little East Conference contests.
