WALLA WALLA, Wash. - Mady Burdett dropped a game-high 24 points to go along with five assists, Makana Stoneadded yet another double double (11 pts, 11 reb) and the Whitman College women's basketball team returned to the friendly confines of the Sherwood Center for a rousing 91-50 drumming of Pacific Lutheran in Northwest Conference action Friday night.

The Lutes (11-4, 4-3 NWC) entered the evening tied for third in the NWC but were no match for the Blues whose performance was every bit of a team undefeated in league play. Whitman shot an impressive 48% from the floor and finished with a 27-3 advantage in fast break points.

Burdett and Stone and were joined by three others with double-digit point performances. Maegen Martin and Brittaney Van Burenboth had 10 points with Taylor Chambers making a stellar 14-point impact off the bench.

Katie Taylor scored a team-high 12 points for PLU with Emma Janousek adding eight points and three rebounds.

The Blues wasted no time in asserting their dominance, racing out to a 21-4 lead and forcing a pair of PLU timeouts along the way. Burdett opened the game with back-to-back three pointers then did the work on the defensive end, forcing a turnover which led to a Kaelan Shamseldin triple and the Blues were off and running.

PLU's first called timeout did nothing to stop the momentum. Chambers came in off the bench, first creating her own bucket with a midrange jumper, then feeding Kaylie McCracken on the break whose layup swelled the lead to 26-5 shortly before the end of the first quarter.

The Blues led throughout the half but the Lutes found a way to stem the tide early in the second quarter. Taylor hit from beyond the arc before Madison Salisbury's layup cut the lead to 33-16. If there was any momentum on the part of the Lutes, it was put to rest quickly. Whitman continued to have its way on the offensive end and capped an excellent first half with Chambers' buzzer beater three pointer to give her team a 49-29 lead entering the break.

The second half proved to be just a formality. Chambers was easily getting to the hoop, breaking ankles along the way with a pair of dribble drives to the cup. Stone continued her impact on the game, converting an and-one flagrant foul to push the lead north of 40 points in the fourth quarter

The Blues retake the court on Saturday against Puget Sound. Tipoff at the Sherwood Center is set for 4:00 p.m.
