Isenberg's Career Day Lifts Pitt-Bradford Past D'Youville

BRADFORD, Pa. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford women's basketball team returned to its winning ways Wednesday with a 76-66 win against D'Youville at the KOA Arena.

"A lot of positives to take out of tonight's game," Head Coach Sharay Hall said. "I am proud of our overall teamwork and effort displayed tonight. We had balanced scoring and a focus that we haven't had in past games. We are definitely taking steps forward."

With the win, Pitt-Bradford improves to 5-4 in AMCC action and D'Youville falls to 3-5.

Jennifer Isenberg dropped a career-high 33 points to lead the Panthers. 

Latifah Cain dropped 19 points for the Panthers while Shaelyn Snipes and Jasmin Miller chipped in 10 points apiece.

Jenna Hicks led the Panthers' rebounding effort with 14 boards.

Both teams put together a high-powered offensive first quarter, with the Spartans closing out strong and edging Pitt-Bradford 21-20 in the opening period.

The two teams were equal at 16 points apiece in the second quarter and D'Youville took a 37-36 lead into the half.

A layup from Isenberg gave Pitt-Bradford the late lead but D'Youville answered with a bucket of its own to regain the lead in the closing seconds.

The third quarter belonged to the Panthers.

Backed by Isenberg's 13 points on 6-8 shooting in the quarter, the Panthers stormed out to a 57-51 lead into the fourth.

Pitt-Bradford took care of business in the fourth quarter, overcoming a hot shooting start from the Spartans backed by eight points from Cain on 4-4 shooting in the closing period.

In all, the Panthers shot 44.6 percent and held the Spartans to 36.1 percent shooting.

D'Youville knocked down five three-pointers, four of which coming from Monica June.

The Panthers outrebounded the Spartans 47-41.

The lead changed 11 times and was tied six times throughout the contest.

Up next, Pitt-Bradford will stay home and host Franciscan Saturday for an AMCC contest at the KOA Arena. Tip is set for 2 p.m., serving as the first part of a doubleheader with the men's game coming after.
