CHESTERTOWN, Md. – Three Bullets scored in double figures and the 20th-ranked Gettysburg College women's basketball team beat Washington College 70-52 Thursday night in Cain Athletic Center to remain undefeated in Centennial Conference play.
 
The Bullets (11-2, 8-0 CC) continue their streak of wins against conference opponents to 23 games with the victory over Washington (5-8, 2-6 CC).
 
Junior Ashley Gehrin (Chester, N.J./West Morris Mendham) and sophomore Meredith Brown (Landisburg, Pa./West Perry) each corralled double figure scoring for the Bullets. Gehrin showcased an outstanding performance, leading the team with a season-high 21 points, hitting 8-of-16 (50.0 percent) from the field, five rebounds, three assists, and a steal. Brown also played fantastic as she netted a career-high 20 points, shooting 7-of-12 (58.3 percent) from the floor, a perfect 6-of-6 from the free throw line, eight rebounds, two assists, two blocks, and two steals.
 
Senior Emma Dorshimer (Jenkintown, Pa./Jenkintown) finished the game with 15 points, including three from beyond the arc, two assists, one block, one steal, and pulled down a team-high nine rebounds. Her 15-point performance put her over 1,500 (1,502) career points to become the third player in program history and the 17th in the Centennial Conference to achieve this milestone. Jennifer Bengel '06 and Caitlin Moser '11 are the only other Bullet players to tally 1,500 career points. Dorshimer needs 55 points to pass Moser into second all-time in career scoring. Dorshimer also hit her 200th career made 3-pointer in the first quarter, pushing her career total to 201.
 
Bridget McLaughlin and Kristi Kozlowski each scored 11 points to lead the Shorewomen with Kozlowski adding six rebounds.
 
Brown netted the first four points for the Bullets as the two teams went back-and-forth the throughout the first quarter. With the Bullets trailing by one (9-8), Dorshimer banked her 200th career made 3-pointer to put Gettysburg ahead 11-9 with 2:45 showing. The Shorewomen scored on the next two possessions off a jumper and a 3-pointer to retake the lead 14-11. Junior Kiera Cesareo (Randolph, N.J./Randolph) drained a trey with 1:07 to tie the contest 14-14, but a free throw by Emily Thiemann with 21 seconds on the clock gave the hosts the one point advantage (15-14) at the end of the period.
 
The second quarter was the battle of the offenses as there were 11 lead changes and three ties. Gettysburg pulled ahead 29-28 when Brown tallied a jumper with 50 seconds left in the period. The Bullets tacked on three more points before heading into halftime as Gehrin drilled a trey with one second remaining to give Gettysburg the 32-28 advantage. Brown scored nine points with Gehrin adding five in the period.  
 
Gehrin continued to shine on the offensive end as she netted five of the Bullets first seven points to open the third quarter (39-30). Gettysburg's offense soared in the period as they outscored the Shorewomen 23-14 and led by 16 when freshman Tori Yantsos (Rockville, Md./Holy Child) connected on a trey with 1:27 to go. The Bullets went 7-of-14 (50 percent) from the floor, 4-of-6 (66.7 percent) from 3-point range, and 5-of-7 (71.4 percent) from the charity stripe.  
 
The Bullets controlled the remainder of the game as they never trailed by more than 12 points and led by 20 off a made free throw by junior Tyler Keohan (Acton, Mass./Acton Boxborough Regional) with 1:50 left.
 
The Bullets ended the game going 24-of-66 (36.4 percent) from the field, 8-of-26 (30.8 percent) from beyond the arc, and 14-of-19 (73.7 percent) from the free throw line. Washington finished 20-of-66 (33.3 percent) overall and 3-of-10 (30 percent) from the three-point line.
 
Gettysburg hosts Bryn Mawr College this Saturday at 3 p.m.
