GETTYSBURG, Pa. The Gettysburg College women's basketball team took down Centennial Conference foe Muhlenberg College 69-58 on Saturday evening in a top-25 showdown in Bream Gym.

The No. 18 (ranked by D3hoops.com) Bullets (9-2, 6-0 CC) handed the No. 25 (ranked by the Women's Basketball Coaches Associations) Mules (9-2, 5-1 CC) their first conference loss of the season.

Senior Emma Dorshimer (Jenkintown, Pa./Jenkintown) notched her third double-double of the season and led all scorers with 16 points, hitting 6-of-11 from the field, 4-of-7 from 3-point range, and snagged 10 rebounds. She is two 3-pointers made shy of hitting 200 career from beyond the arc. Dorshimer also added four assists.

Freshman Mackenzie Tinner (Newtown, Pa./Council Rock High School North) made an outstanding contribution off the bench as she gathered career-highs in points (12) and rebounds (8), while adding two blocks. She made 5-of-7 (71.4 percent) from the field and 2-of-3 from the free throw line. Junior Ashley Gehrin (Chester, N.J./West Morris Mendham) also chipped in nine points and six rebounds.

Margaux Eripret went a perfect 4-of-4 from the field and 3-of-4 from the free throw line to lead the Mules with 11 points. Carley Hamilton and Sara Dilly each finished with six rebounds for a team-best.

The Mules wasted no time as they netted their first 3-pointer eight seconds into the first quarter and went on to an early 5-0 advantage.

Two ties and three lead changes occurred after that run as the Bullets started heating up from the 3-point range. Gettysburg registered five from beyond the arc in the final eight minutes of the frame with Dorshimer hitting two. Freshman Tierra Morris (Goochland, Va./Collegiate School) drained the final trey of the frame to give the Bullets the 16-15 advantage heading into the second quarter.

Dorshimer hit her third trey 27 seconds into the second quarter to spark a 12-2 run, putting the Bullets ahead by 12 (29-17) with 5:24 on the clock.

Muhlenberg then hit two free throws and a 3-pointer to cut the advantage down to seven (29-22). A layup by junior Emma Hahner (Forest Hill, Md./C. Milton Wright) and a layup by sophomore Meredith Brown (Landisburg, Pa./West Perry) concluded the final points of the half for the Orange and Blue, while the Mules tacked on three more points. Gettysburg held the 33-25 lead at intermission.

The Gettysburg offense was electric in the third quarter, jumping out to a 21-point lead at the end of the frame, thanks in part to a well-balanced effort. Five different Bullets scored in the period with Gehrin netting nine. The Orange and Blue shot a quarter best 47.1 percent (8-of-17) from the floor and held the Mules to a quarter low 19 percent (4-of-21).

A jumper by freshman Seanna McNamara (Berwyn, Pa./The Episcopal Academy) gave the Bullets the largest lead of the game (67-41) with 6:27 remaining. Muhlenberg did not back down as they finished the quarter on a 17-2 run, but Gettysburg held on to take the top-25 battle.

Gettysburg made 27-of-66 (40.9 percent) overall and 11-of-28 (39.3 percent) from the 3-point line. Muhlenberg went 21-of-67 (31.3 percent) from the field and 10-of-14 (71.4 percent) from the charity stripe. The Bullets out-rebounded the Mules 48-41.
