MEDFORD, Mass. – The top-ranked Bowdoin women's basketball team dominated the second half en route to an impressive 82-63 win at fourth-ranked Tufts on Saturday afternoon.

The Polar Bears remain unbeaten at 12-0 and improve to 2-0 in NESCAC play. The Jumbos lose for the first time this season and fall to 12-1 (1-1 NESCAC).

Game Highlights

• The teams traded blows in the first half as the squads exchanged the lead seven times in the opening twenty minutes.
• Tufts led 15-14 after the first quarter, but Bowdoin opened the second frame on an 8-2 run, sparked by an Abby Kelly three-pointer, to take a 22-17 lead.
• Bowdoin maintained the lead for the remainder of the first half, but Tufts closed the second quarter on a 9-4 surge, closing the gap to 32-30 at the break following a Katie Martensen jumper.
• The hosts stormed out of the gate in the third quarter, using an 8-0 run to take their biggest lead of the contest, 38-32, with 8:42 to go in the period.
• Bowdoin answered quickly with a 10-2 surge, regaining the lead on a pair of Maddie Hasson free throws with 5:27 on the clock.
• Molly Ryan briefly regained the lead for Tufts on a three-pointer, 43-42, with 5:13 on the clock but Abby Kelly answered again for Bowdoin, knocking down a three-pointer to give the Polar Bears the lead for good.
• Bowdoin closed the third quarter on an 11-3 run, and a three-pointer from Sela Kay gave the visitors a 56-48 lead heading into the final period.
• The Polar Bears poured in on from there, scoring 26 points in the fourth quarter, connecting on 50% of their shots in the period and extending the lead to as many as 23 points on their way to the win.

By The Numbers

• Bowdoin finished at 50% shooting for the game and knocked down 6-10 from three-point range.
• The Polar Bear defense held Tufts to 34% shooting and Bowdoin scored 20 points off 14 Jumbo turnovers in the win.
• Maddie Hasson continued her hot play, finishing with a game-high 21 points, seven rebounds and three steals. Hasson hit on 9-11 from the field in the game.
• Bowdoin also got 17 points from Abby Kelly, including a trio of three-pointers, while Sam Roy finished with a season-best 15 points, seven rebounds, five assists and two steals.
• Erica DeCandido led Tufts with 20 points, half of which came on a 10-10 performance from the free throw line.
• After trailing in rebounds at halftime, Bowdoin out-rebounded Tufts 24-9 in the second half to finish with a 39-30 advantage for the game on the glass.
