The Baruch College Bearcats lost 70-46 to the Chargers of Colby-Sawyer College (New Hampshire) in a non-conference contest on Saturday afternoon in the ARC Arena.
The Bearcats were tied (12-12) after the first quarter and led by three (26-23) at halftime behind 11 points from Valsenia Michie.
The game changed in the third quarter, as the visiting Chargers outscored the Bearcats, 24-10, to jump out to a 47-36 lead that proved difficult to overcome in the final stretch.
The Chargers from the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) shot 62 percent (16-for-26) during the second half, including 4-of-7 from three.
Michie led the Bearcats with a career-high 17 points. Melinda Spahiu (seven points, 10 rebounds, six steals, four assists) and Daniela Zirpolo (eight points) rounded out the top scorers.
Lexie Hamilton was tops for the opponent with 27 points, eight assists and seven rebounds.
