PURCHASE, N.Y. -- Sophomores Amanda Pemberton and Spencer Shore set career highs with 17 and 15 points, respectively, leading the Manhattanville College women's basketball team to a 62-36 victory over the College of Mount Saint Vincent Dolphins Wednesday, Dec. 18, at Kennedy Gymnasium.

Senior Kayleah McGuire matched her season average with 16 points, continuing her run of double figures scoring in every game this season, while sophomore Sarah Coutu stuffed the stat sheet with six points, eight assists, four rebounds and four steals for Manhattanville (9-0). Yamirlesy Reyes and Dez Brown both had 10 points for Mount St. Vincent (2-8).

All five Manhattanville starters (Pemberton, Shore, McGuire, Coutu and freshman Ali Mikaele) and freshman Faith Johnson-DeSilvia all recorded at least one field goal in the first quarter, capped by a deep three-pointer from Shore at the buzzer, as Manhattanville opened a 20-9 lead after the opening 10 minutes.

With the Valiants leading 22-12 in a low-scoring second quarter, Pemberton scored four of eight straight Manhattanville points, all on layups, igniting a 10-4 Manhattanville advantage over the rest of the quarter, as the Valiants doubled the Dolphins, 32-16, at the half.

Manhattanville's surge continued out of the locker room, as the Valiants opened the second half on a remarkable 17-0 run, seven of those points coming from Pemberton, before Reyes scored on a layup with 1:19 left in the quarter.

Mount St. Vincent briefly cut the margin to 24 in the final quarter, thanks in large part to a 6-0 run, but Pemberton, McGuire and Shore combined for 26 of the team's 30 second-half points. The Valiants defense finished with 30-plus forced turnovers for the second-straight game -- fourth time this season -- and held their fourth team under 30 percent shooting from the field.

The Valiants wrap up 2018 at home next Saturday, Dec. 28, in a non-conference game against the Goucher College Gophers at 2:00 p.m.
