BRIDGEWATER, Va. -- Miracle Walters scored a career- and game-best 28 points--and had a game-sealing steal--as Guilford College won at Bridgewater College, 83-80, in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) women's basketball contest Saturday afternoon. Walters, a junior, was 12-of-14 from the field and made all four of her free-throw attempts for Quakers.

The win was the fourth straight for Guilford, which improved to 6-3 and 4-1 in ODAC play. The Eagles dropped to 6-3 and 3-2 in league games.

The visitors trailed, 40-33, at halftime but caught fire in the third quarter. Guilford tallied the first nine points of the stanza and outscored Bridgewater, 32-14, in the period.

In the final quarter, Julie Carini made a layup with 3:01 left to give her team a 79-72 lead. Bridgewater answered with an 8-0 run after Rebecca Harvey's three-pointer with 57 seconds remaining to give the home team an 80-79 edge.

Lindsay Gauldin then made a layup with 33 seconds on the clock to give the Quakers a one-point lead. After a defensive stop, Calyn Davis made two free throws to push the Guilford advantage to 83-80. With eight seconds left the Eagles ran a final play, but Walters made a steal and dribbled away the final seconds for Guilford.

Gauldin added 21 points, 10 rebounds, six assists and three blocks for the Quakers. Brianna Allen netted 12 points and Carini contributed 10 for the victorious visitors.

Guilford shot a season-high 56 percent (34-61) from the field in the contest. It was the Quakers' second straight game shooting 50 percent or better. The Eagles shot 32-of-75 (43 percent). Both teams collected 38 rebounds.

Bridgewater's Briana Moore recorded a team-best 23 points on 9-of-16 field-goal shooting and made five three-pointers. Harvey added 17 points for the home club. Madison Baum dished 11 assists and Allie Coburn grabbed 13 boards for the Eagles.
