(WALLA WALLA, Wash.) – Thomas More University guard Madison Temple (Cincinnati, Ohio/Anderson) scored a game-high 33 points tonight (Saturday, December 8, 2018) to lead the fourth-ranked Saints to an 80-63, win over Whitman College on the final day of the Kim Evanger Raney Classic at the Sherwood Athletic Center in Walla Walla, Washington.  Thomas More improves to 11-0 and Whitman falls to 6-3.

FIRST HALF:

• In the first quarter neither team led by as many as four points as the Saints led 15-12 after the opening quarter.
• Whitman opened the second quarter on a 10-2 run to build a 22-17 lead with 7:24 to play in the first half.
• The Saints closed out the quarter on a 19-8 run to take a 38-30 lead at halftime.
• Thomas More shot 46.7 percent (14-of-30) from the field, while holding the Blues to 37.9 percent (11-of-29) shooting.
• The Saints shot 100 percent from the free-throw line (eight-of-eight).
• Temple led the team in the opening half with 19 points and four rebounds.
• Junior forward Emily Schultz (Melbourne, Ky./Bishop Brossart) added 10 points and two rebounds.

SECOND HALF:

• Thomas More opened the third quarter on a 17-7 run to extend the lead to 55-37 with 5:00 to play in the quarter when junior guard Kaela Saner (Florence, Ky./Boone County) made a three-pointer.
• The Blues closed out the quarter on a 14-4 run to cut the lead to 59-51 after three quarters.
• The Saints out-scored Whitman 21-12 in the fourth quarter to post the 80-63 victory.
• Thomas More shot 65.3 percent (17-of-26) from the field in the second half, including 100 percent from behind the three-point arc (three-of-three).
• Temple scored 14 points and pulled down four rebounds in the half.
• Senior forward Shelby Rupp (Milan, Ind./Batesville) tallied 10 points and three rebounds in the half.

NOTABLES:

• Thomas More shot 55.4 percent (31-of-56) from the field, including 55.6 percent (five-of-nine) from three-point range.
• The Saints were 92.9 percent (13-of-14) from the charity stripe.
• Thomas More had a 48-22 advantage in the paint and 15-12 off turnovers.
• Temple was named the Tournament Most Valuable Player (MVP) after the tournament and tallied 33 points, eight rebounds, three assists and four steals.
• Schultz was named to the All-Tournament Team and scored 15 points, pulled down four rebounds, dished out three assists and recorded one steal.
• Rupp finished the game with 14 points, four rebounds and three steals.
• Saner had 12 points and one steal.
