Hood's Pitt dishes out 12 assists in conference opening win

FREDERICK, Md. - Hood College's Ebony Pitt passed out 12 assists and the Blazers shot for the fourth-best percentage in school history in a 67-48 win over visiting Alvernia in Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth action. 

Inside the Box Score

  • Pitt's 12 dimes were just one shy of the school record and the most in a game for a Blazer since Sara Wastler's set the mark in 2008. 
  • Hood shot 55 percent in the game (27 of 49). The Blazers sank 8 of 18 from 3-point range (44 percent). 
  • Mia Savoy shot 9 of 14, including 4 of 7 from 3-point range, in the contest on her way to a game-high 22 points. 
  • Hood got strong performances from the bench. Morgan Anderson scored 13 points on 6 of 8 shooting and blocked five shots. Zara Whitfield made 5 of 6 field goals and finished with 12 points. Deaja Colden led the Blazers with six rebounds and Rian Wright grabbed five. The Blazer reserves outscored their counterparts 32-11.

  • Hood held the Golden Wolves to just 1 of 11 shooting in the first quarter to build a 16-5 lead. 
  • The Blazers built on the first period by shooting 7 of 11 in the second quarter to build a 34-22 lead at halftime. 
  • Leading 49-37 heading into the fourth quarter, Hood shot 7 of 11 while holding Alvernia to just 3 of 20 to put the game away. 

Notes

  • The Golden Wolves shot only 26 percent in the game. 
  • Gabriella De Vito scored 14 points in the game and Torie Zerbe added 10. 
  • As a team, Alvernia had 14 steals, including four by Zerbe and three apiece from De Vito and Maya Cooper. 
  • Hood held a 36-32 rebounding edge.
