ARLINGTON, Va. – The Marymount University women's basketball team jumped out early and never surrendered the lead on Wednesday night, toppling Salisbury University in a non-conference matchup in the Converse Family Fieldhouse, 56-46. 

Led by double-digit scoring nights by three different Saints, Marymount (5-2) built up a 15-4 lead through the first quarter, not allowing the Sea Gulls (4-1) to find the bottom of the basket until 1:07 left in the first frame. In the 15-0 start, seven of the points were registered by junior Regan Lohr, who finished with a game-high 17 points. 

Although MU built up as much as a 19-point lead early on in the second quarter, Salisbury began to chip away at the deficit until it was just seven points shy of tying the game with 24 seconds left until the break. However, sophomore Aidan Phillips had different plans, cashing in on a three-pointer as time expired to give Marymount a 31-21 advantage to take to the locker room. 

The third quarter played similar to the first, as the Saints got out to a quick start, eventually outscoring the Sea Gulls, 15-8, through the 10-minute stretch. 

With some life in the fourth, Salisbury put together another 17-point effort in the quarter, but the deficit was too large to overcome, as the Saints held out for the 10-point victory. 

Marymount shot 46.7 percent from the floor, dropping in 21 baskets. They commanded the paint scoring 30 of their 56 points inside, finding a lot of opportunities on the baseline. Many of those efforts were finished by junior Gabriella Haddad and freshman Katie McShea, notching 12 and eight points, respectively. McShea was also a factor in the quick finds under the basket, dishing out a career- and game-high six assists, while adding a team-high five rebounds and a career- and game-high four steals. 

Also with a double-digit night was senior Tyffani McQueen, dropping in 10 points on 3-for-5 shooting, and a perfect 4-for-4 at the free-throw line. 

The Saints are riding a three-game win streak as they head into Atlantic East Conference play for the first time on Saturday, December 1, traveling to Neumann University. The Knights are sitting 4-2 for the season, looking to bounce back into the win column after dropping their last two contests. Start time is set for 1 p.m., in Aston, Pennsylvania.
