LOS ANGELES — The Occidental women's basketball team blew out Cal Miramar 90-39 in the first game of its Thanksgiving Classic at Rush Gym on Friday.
Catherine Renneker led five Tigers in double figures with 17 points off the bench on 8 for 12 shooting. Mallory North had 12 points on four threes, Kulaea Tulua had a double-double with 10 points and 12 rebounds, including eight at the offensive end of the court, Raveena Dhiman had 11 points and eight assists, and Chelsea Brooks had 13 points.
Oxy jumped out in front 23-9 at the end of the first quarter, led 53-19 by halftime and never looked back, shooting 55 percent from the field and 53 percent from beyond the 3-point line.
Oxy out-rebounded Cal Miramar 52-24 and held CMU to just 26 percent shooting for the game.
Ajae Burley led Cal Miramar with 14 points.
"We really shared the ball and shot it with accuracy," Oxy head coach Anahit Aladzhanyan said. "It was a nice team win heading into Game 2 of our annual Thanksgiving Classic."
Season Impact: Oxy improves to 2-2 on the season.
Next Game: The Tigers are back in action on Friday playing Bethesda at La Verne.
