SCRANTON, Pa. - Senior guard Bridgette Mann (Canadensis, Pa./Wallenpaupack) scored a game-high 18 points, leading four University of Scranton women's basketball players who tallied double-digit scoring nights, as the eighth-ranked Lady Royals rolled past host Marywood, 68-47, on Tuesday night.

With the win, the Lady Royals moved to 3-0 on the young season, while Marywood dropped to 2-2 on the year with the defeat.

In the opening frame of the contest, offense was tough to come by for both squads for most of the period, as Scranton held a slim 11-6 lead after the first 10 minutes of play.

The second quarter began with Marywood slicing the Scranton lead down to a single point (14-13) two minutes in. Leading 18-15 with 6:46 left in the first half, the Lady Royals proceeded to distance themselves from the Pacers, as they finished off the quarter on a 9-2 run to take a 29-17 lead into intermission.

In the third quarter, Scranton continued to pad to their 12-point lead, eventually taking an insurmountable 41-24 lead with 6:27 left in the period on a three-pointer by Mann. Eventually, the Lady Royals extended the lead out further, going up 50-29 with 2:48 left.

Up 52-35 entering the fourth quarter, the final period was academic for the Lady Royals, as they coasted down the stretch to take a 21-point win in their first true road game of the 2018-19 season.

Overall, Mann led all Scranton scorers for the second time in three games on the year with her 18-point effort, as 12 of her points came in the last two quarters when the Lady Royals pulled away. Mann also pulled down six rebounds, has two steals, and a pair of assists in the win, as well.

Mann led a balanced scoring evening for the Lady Royals, as four of the five starters for Scranton scored in double-figures.

Junior guards Emily Sheehan (Dunmore, Pa./Dunmore) and Makenzie Mason (Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks West) scored 13 points, apiece. 11 of Sheehan's points came in the first half, as she also pulled down four rebounds and recorded two steals and two blocks. Mason, meanwhile, dished out a team-high five assists and had three blocks in the win.

Rounding out the double-digit scorers for Scranton was junior Sofia Recupero (Whitestone, N.Y./Saint Francis Prep), who ended the night with 10 points while pulling down four rebounds.

The University of Scranton women's basketball team will now be idle through the Thanksgiving holiday weekend, returning to action on Monday when they host DeSales in their 2018-19 home opener inside the John Long Center. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.
